Harriet Redman - Citrus Survival Centre
The Citrus Survival Centre addresses the very real threat that all of the citrus groves in Florida may be destroyed, employing various approaches and a range of quarantine levels in order to ensure the survival of Florida’s citrus species. One of these is the intentional infection of trees with the Canker or Greening disease in the pathogen laboratory. These infected trees are then cultivated in the quarantined nurseries, which maintain a negative air pressure, in order to test their fruiting capability and longevity whilst suffering from disease.
